WP Theater (formerly Women’s Project Theater) is the oldest and largest theater company dedicated to female-centric theater in the country. It is no wonder, then, that their production of What We're Up Against is a theater trifecta of great acting, great writing, and great direction. This Off-Broadway play about the challenges women face in the workplace was written in 1992, but is, unfortunately, still painfully relevant in 2017.
Broadway faves and generally awesome humans Krysta Rodriguez and Skylar Astin star alongside CSI's Marg Helgenberger and theater veterans Jim Parrack and Damian Young. It cannot be overstated how cool it is to see this cast of A-listers perform in such a small and intimate theater on the Upper West Side. Smash creator (and Pulitzer finalist!) Theresa Rebeck's writing is super accessible, very lively, and full of hilarious dialogue. She confronts the reality of the issue without being the slightest bit preachy. And director Adrienne Campbell-Holt (who is the Associate Director of Dear Evan Hansen, nbd) stuns the audience with one energetic scene after another, finding rich life in the relationships between these characters and the situation they find themselves in.

Bonus: You'll hear tons of 90s songs from your dreamz. Another bonus: It's only 1 hour and 45 minutes, and that includes the intermission. In and out!
What We're Up Against runs through December 3.
Four future megastar actors shine in this new play about the personal side of the Freedom Riders movement.
There's a reason it won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Musical. It doesn't get fresher and more relevant than this!
