Any project Steven Levenson is involved in is sure to be something worth seeing--he did, after all, write the book for Dear Evan Hansen. It is no surprise, then, why If I Forget is a slice of theater goodness.
The story of this new play at Roundabout is engaging--a Jewish family gets together to celebrate an elderly and sickly parent's birthday, family secrets get shared, drama ensues--and the acting is SUPERB. The play has some pretty intense political themes, and though it takes place in 2000, it is insanely relatable to the political climate today.
It's serious, it's funny, and it's thought-provoking. This play will be a delight to both the theater connoisseur and the casual fan.
