Every now and again, you see a theater production and you simply cannot imagine it being done better. The current Broadway revival of Three Tall Women is one of those!
This recipe for near-perfection starts with knockout performances from all three actresses, including Tony Awards for two of their performances. From the 81-year-old (and woke AF!) Glenda Jackson’s stunning leading performance to theater darling Laurie Metcalf making you feel like she’s performing just for you, the acting here is about as good as it gets. For example, there is a scene where Laurie Metcalf is playing Solitaire with no lines that is more iconic than the vast majority of performances you see on Broadway...or anywhere! She’s, quite simply, one of the greatest actresses who ever lived.
As for Glenda Jackson, let’s just put it this way: In a contentious situation, you better hope someone like her is on your side. Force to be reckoned with? Oh, yeah...and then some! She’s everything you hope she'll be on stage and more.

Director Joe Mantello starred in the excellent revival of The Glass Menagerie, which was one of YesBroadway’s Top Ten Favorite Theater of 2017 and he’s done it again with Three Tall Women, this time offstage in the director's chair. Stark production values that will blow your mind are seamlessly integrated into the story and match the caliber of acting and writing in Edward Albee's 100-minute take on what it means to grown old.
Broadway is experiencing a straight-up embarrassment of riches right now with this show. Three Tall Women is a total triumph and an absolute must-see!
