Full Disclosure: YesBroadway founder Sam Maher is a Co-Producer of Be More Chill.
Be More Chill is finally getting the Off-Broadway production it so very much deserves. Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz’s superb musical arrives in the NYC this summer and please be aware: it's already the hottest theater ticket around.
What is Be More Chill, you ask? This video was made about a year ago and explained how the online fandom was reaching peak freakout. Little did we all know that that fandom would continue to multiply exponentially ever since, including insane stats like the fact that the cast recording from the 2015 world premiere production has been streamed over 100 million times. You read that right. A. Hundred. Million. This NYC premiere is gonna be HUGE.
Most of the cast and creative team from the 2015 production is coming to NYC with the show with one major exception: Dear Evan Hansen’s Will Roland will be playing the lead role of Jeremy. The best news of all, though? George Salazar will be reprising his performance of Michael, which means even more people will get to experience his ridiculously good performance of the song “Michael In The Bathroom”.
Stephanie Hsu from SpongeBob SquarePants is back in the role of Christine, and while we’ll be losing Paul Whitty to Broadway’s Gettin’ The Band Back Together, the extremely talented Jason SweetTooth Williams will be playing Jeremy’s pants-challenged dad instead.
