The Civilians is a theater company known for investigative theater. The Undertaking is Artistic Director Steve Cosson's (who wrote and directed the play) documentary-style deep dive into the question of what it means to die. One of the actors (mostly) plays a character named Steve, ahem, so it's a very meta experience to watch.

For 85 minutes, we enter into a multimedia world as "Steve" and one other actor explore this morbid concept together. Full of sleek production values and contemporary subject matter, The Undertaking feels somehow European...in a good way! It's crisp and cool, lending itself nicely to an audience of young, hip, and smart people.
Runs through February 4.
