5 Reasons You Should Get Tickets Now To The Lightning Thief: In Concert

by Brookelynn Mason

1. The show is so good that they added a SECOND performance to a previously one-performance-only event. Due to the popularity of the musical, the original cast of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical was set to reunite for one night only to perform a 7pm concert on August 28. But, of course, the show is SO DAMN GOOD that fans have screamed for more and their cries were heard! A second show for 9:30 was added, which is great considering tickets for the 7pm show are already sold out! They're going fast...

2. The music. Duh. The fresh and exciting music (thanks, Rob Rokicki!) is easily one of the best parts about this. Even if you are not typically into showtunes, you'll love it! And hey, if you don't trust us and want to pregame before the concert, there is an original cast recording for your listening pleasure!

3. Chris McCarrell IS Percy Jackson. There is nobody possibly more fitting for the role of Percy Jackson than dreamboat Chris. He brings out the core of the character in a way that almost (almost!) makes us forget the Hollywood disaster that was the movie.

4. George Salazar was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his role(s). Playing Percy's best friend (as well as a rather grumpy camp counselor) is the redonkulously talented George Salazar. Fans may know him as Michael from Be More Chill, which just saw a resurgence in popularity in the online fan community. This guy is EVERYWHERE, and we couldn't be more excited about it.

5. The Green Room 42 is a SICK venue. Called "Broadway's newest, most spacious, and funkiest entertainment hall", it's not wonder why it would be the perfect spot for this performance. Great food, great entertainment, and NO food or beverage minimums--so a great choice if you just want to immerse yourself in the show. The venue itself is hip (hello, graffiti booths!) and just intimate enough where you still feel like you're part of a show, while spacious enough you can kick back and relax with a drink or snack!
